Inbound: PWR Foil REVO Air

PWR Foil enter the inflatable e-foil market with a price-point-friendly and beginner accessible option that also holds its own in terms of performance. We dialed up the PWR team in France for some further info…

So firstly, what materials did you use in the REVO Air, and how do you ensure a balance of strength and light weight?

We use a hybrid technology that combines a rigid compartment, identical to that of our classic models, ensuring strength and rigidity, with an inflatable section made from the best dropstitch materials on the market. PWR Foil has over 15 years of experience in manufacturing both rigid and inflatable stand-up paddles, allowing us to offer a product that is reliable, lightweight, and high-performing.

What would you say are the key advantages of an inflatable e-foil compared to a rigid board, and is there a vast difference in flight sensation?

One of the main advantages of an inflatable e-foil is its ease of storage and transport. Unlike a rigid board, it can be stored in a small space, making it especially convenient for boat owners or those with limited storage. Another key benefit is its durability, which is often underestimated. Contrary to popular belief, an inflatable board is highly resistant to impacts, whether against obstacles like rocks or boats or even in case of a collision with the rider. This makes it a safe and long-lasting option.

There are some notable differences in sensations as you fly. A rigid board offers a smoother and more direct glide, whereas an inflatable board may feel slightly more “sticky” on the water. The main difference is felt when surfing waves: a rigid board, with its thinner rails, bounces less on the water, while inflatable models may have a more cushioned effect. However, both types of construction have their advantages and disadvantages, depending on the rider's profile and expectations.

So at what point did you guys decide you wanted to create an inflatable e-foil?

The first boards we made fly came from our Redwood Paddle brand and were already inflatable. We then shifted toward performance goals with our rigid models. However, the market has changed, and demand has evolved: renters, boat owners, and riders today are looking for a practical and durable product. So, we decided to offer an inflatable alternative, offering a more affordable price and a product better suited to certain specific uses, while maintaining optimal quality and riding pleasure. We can now help to meet that growing demand, particularly from rental businesses and boat owners. We often had visitors to our Canet factory asking why, with our expertise in inflatable SUPs, we hadn’t yet developed an inflatable e-foil… Well, now we have!

Is the assembly and inflation process for the REVO quick and easy?

Absolutely! Inflation takes only 3 to 4 minutes with a manual pump. After that, the installation process is the same as for our rigid models, requiring just 5 to 6 minutes to set up.

And how do you ensure durability and prevent the risk of punctures?

Our inflatable boards are made from the same materials as rigid inflatable boats, making them extremely resistant. With over 15 years of experience, we have perfected our manufacturing process to ensure a reliable and durable product, with very few issues when properly designed. That said, repairs are simple and quick to perform, although damages remain very rare due to the quality of the materials used.

Finally, for any uninitiated e-foil riders out there, would you say the REVO Air is a good entry-option?

The REVO Air is particularly well-suited for beginners, thanks to its stability, durability, and increased safety in case of falls or impacts. Its generous volume makes it easy to handle, ideal for those looking to discover e-foiling without fear.
