World of Waves Spotlights Foiling

Surfing.com takes a dive into the foilsphere…

If you haven't checked it out yet, you'll definitely want to catch Episode 10 of Surfing.com's World of Waves series. The show's host, professional surfer Daniel Hughes, explores foiling as the sport injects another dimension and the latest technology into surfing.

The 20-minute episode takes him to Lake Tahoe where he learns the ins-and-outs of foiling from local foiling enthusiast Trent Carter. Next up, it's out on a boat with “Doc Bob”. Hughes gets a session in with his SUP surfboard before having a go at wake foiling. Then he's off to meet with the Fliteboard team and it's time for Hughes to try out an e-foil, with help from the company's design engineer, Zack Backas.

It's all wrapped up with a Zoom call in which Backas goes over everything from battery life of a Fliteboard and the research put into that, to the feeling of flying.  Backas gives viewers a firsthand glimpse into what is involved in this tech breakthrough and what we can expect in the future.
