Takuma electric hydrofoil

We recently got a sneak peek of Takuma Concept's electric hydrofoils at Boot 2020 that took place in Düsseldorf Germany from January 18th to 26th.

In the last couple of years, foiling opened a new era and vision of water sports. With more than 20 years of experience in the industry, Takuma Concept has become a real innovative brand known as the first Europe SUP & Hybrid foil brand. And now they have amazed us yet again with their innovative electric hydrofoils. It was exciting to finally get their electric hydrofoil boards and get a better understanding of its functionalities.

The board has a modular approach, which means that you can use it as an Efoil with an electrically powered mast, or use a traditional mast without a battery inside. It uses a 3 kW engine, which is less than the 5 kW which Flite of Lift is using, and promises a speed of 34 km/h or 21 mph.

These electric hydrofoil boards are available in two different sizes: an E-Foil Access 50 which is 190cm long and has a volume of 150 liters, and an E-Foil Pack 50 which is 160cm long (this was the version that we got to see at Boot 2020).

The remote control was developed by BBTalking, and has a turn knob to adjust the speed, a trigger to pull as a safety feature, a boost button for heavy riders or rough sea, and is – of course – is totally waterproof.

The wings are available in 3 sizes: 1900 ideal for beginners and extra stability, 1600 as the allrounder and 1300 for tighter carving.

The Takuma electric foil surfboard is available in red, white, light blue and asphalt grey and comes with a board bag as well as chargers for the battery and the remote.
