Waves information
Tides – tides can range as much as 3m at Latitude Zero I Nusa Tenggara allowing for quality normal surfing and foil surfing on the same reef break at different times of the day.
Out the front – We have 2 foiling waves for both tide extremes right in front of the resort – A long world class right and a shorter lefthand peak, known as “The Playground” which means you can foilboard all day if you have the energy and prefer this over normal surfing.
Other known surf options – if the swell is too small for out front there is several other quality surf spots within 30 minutes speedboat ride that are also perfect for foiling on high tides. These waves pick up almost any swell on the ocean and are just as fun.
The unknown realm – we have miles of offshore fringe reef surrounding Latitude Zero I Nusa Tenggara much of it remains untested for surfing or foiling. Be the first to foil an unridden reef pass or corner with jetski assist! We will even let you name it.
When is best to go?
We have identified these seasons as prime time seasons for foil boarding with or without kites or wings, and great chances for regular surfing epic waves also.
OCTOBER – FEBURARY are excellent months for foiling at Latitude Zero I Nusa Tenggara. Empty line ups, offshore or glassy mornings and a wing foiling or down winding on the afternoon southwest winds that blow perfectly across the back of the lineup providing cross shore take off area and clean walls as the swell bends into the bay.
AUGUST – SEPTEMBER are also prime time for foiling at Latitude Zero I Nusa Tenggara. Larger quality swells with generally clean mornings and wing foiling or down winding on the seasonal afternoon southeast trade winds.
No wind?
Our days revolve around the best surfing and foiling conditions and are punctuated with guided yoga sessions, mountain treks, pickleball matches, massages, or just relaxing at one of the 4 luxurious swimming pools and absorbing the spectacular scenery. If you need to stay connected between surfs, we have you covered with 100mbps optical fiber dedicated wifi.
Latitude Zero I Nusa Tenggara is just a few short traveling hours from Bali, in the eastern islands of Indonesia. We will guide you to suitable flights on enquiry and pick you up from the regional airport for transfer to the resort.
It’s worth bringing smaller, faster foils for high performance surf foiling and tow foiling. For those looking for mellow foil rides on the less consequential breaks, then your favourite surf foil will feel right at home.
The area is subject to large tide swings and a shorter mast can come in handy, opening up some low tide foil options. Generally speaking, a standard mast (75-80cm) will be suitable for most foil conditions.
While the afternoon trade winds are stable when on, it rarely gets crazy so larger wings of 5-6m are recommended.
