Not shy of expanding their vast range of foils, AXIS has launched the ART V2, replacing the groundbreaking original ART and filling the gap between their surf-focused Spitfire and race-focused ART Pro foils.
A love child of the two, the ART V2 boasts an ultra-high modulus carbon construction and has an outline which shares an undeniable likeness to the Spitfire and a profile thickness and straight median line similar to the Pro, so it comes as no surprise that these visual similarities transfer directly into a blended best-of-both feeling which makes the ART V2’s riding characteristics highly versatile, predictable and fast.
A modern foil with an impressively low stall speed and progressive lift, at first taste you could be forgiven for thinking it is an entry level wing, but as you gather speed, put it through different situations and spend more time learning this foil, riders will find its speed, range and rigid composure is truly impressive for high level riding too. Giving a sense of confidence and predictability in the water that allows the rider to look further forwards, the ART V2 can handle a wide pitch angle with ease and is comfortable running deep or near the water’s surface which makes it very forgiving to confused water states and progressing riders.
Most happy when ridden flat, it is comfortable throughout its wide range of speed and without sudden flinching at its extremes. The ART V2 loves to go fast, with a frictionless feel to its glide which makes connecting bumps in all foiling disciplines easy and pleasurable on this new age glider.
Best matched with their Advance+ fuse and either the Progressive or Skinny tails to gain a good balance of efficiency and maneuverability, the ART V2 has a loose yaw, sensitive pitch and heavy roll, pushing power through the front foot. The ART lends itself to the sort of rider that likes to drive forwards, link bumps and carve smooth, arching turns with a focus on yaw control, and whilst it can be pushed through a rolled turn and driven towards a steeper pocket, its wider span and tip breaching characteristics will remind riders that the ART V2 is not for getting deep, it is designed for going far, fast.
Handling speed changes impeccably and equally happy driven by wind, wave, pump or propeller, this is the sort of foil that enjoys coasting out to the shoulder, pausing to assess the next move before putting the throttle back on full, composed for the next surge of wave or wing induced acceleration.
Launched in three sizes, the ART V2 is a big step up in terms of versatility within the AXIS range. Easily creating a one-foil quiver or perfectly complimenting other more dedicated foils in the range, the ART V2 brings increased performance together with user friendliness, making it a great addition to the AXIS program and a standout for intermediate to advanced wing, prone and downwind riders who like to foil fast, far and smooth in a variety of conditions.
